STOMP Workshop

Specialized Training of Military Parents (STOMP)

If you are a parent of an exceptional child, here is a workshop just for you!  STOMP staff will offer parent-directed training which provides information and training about laws, regulations, and resources for military parents of children with special needs. The training will help to empower parents by educating them and giving them voice to advocate for their child and raise awareness of issues they face day-to-day.

The STOMP training will be conducted at the Kings Bay Youth Center (new location) over a two-day period — Monday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 22nd from 8:00 am —3:00 pm. Class size will be limited to a maximum of 100 attendees. Topics addressed during the STOMP training include:

• Rights and Responsibility
• Individuals Education Programs (IEP)
• Record keeping and Home Files
• Effective Communication
• Networking
• Wills and Guardianships
• Supplemental Security Income
