Position:   Recreation Aid, NF-0189-01

Salary:   $10.00 – $10.91 per hour, based on qualifications/experience

Employment Category:   Flexible, 0-40 hours per week, with no benefits.  Will require working night, weekend and holiday hours.  Shift Differential will be paid for hours worked from 6:00pm to 6:00am. NOTE:  A flexible employee is one who serves in either a continuing or temporary (time limited) position, on a scheduled or unscheduled (as needed or intermittent) basis, up to 40 hours per week. Flexible employees are not eligible to participate in the CNIC benefit programs, nor are they entitled to earn or use leave including military leave, court leave, sick or annual leave.

Location:   Various Departments within Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) aboard Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, GA

Relocation Expenses:  Not Authorized

Area of Consideration:   All Sources – Applicant does not have to have current SUBASE access.  If selected for position, access will be granted upon a favorable background check.

Duties:  Assists in the day-to-day operations of various departments/activities.  Provides oversight of activities and necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information on the use of equipment.  Provides information concerning facilities and operation.  Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures.  Monitors and checks the security of premises.  May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed.  May operate a cash register, receive payments and make change.  Must display exceptional customer service skills.  Performs other related duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:         

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to learn MWR policies, rules and regulations involving the work area.
  • Must have knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Must have the ability to deal courteously with the public, both military and civilians.  
  • Must be able to operate a cash register and have cash-handling experience.  
  • Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions unsupervised.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:   Work requires the ability to move, lift and carry items up to 50 pounds (over 50 pounds with assistance), standing and walking for long periods of time and some bending and stooping.  Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors.  Indoor work will be in areas that have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation.  Some facilities will require exposure to outdoors resulting in exposure to various climactic conditions, i.e., heat, cold, rain and humidity.
