Position:  Recreation Assistant, NF-0189-02

Salary:   $13.00 - $16.00 per hour, based on qualifications/experience

Employment Category:   Regular Full-Time, 35-40 hours per week, with benefits.  May require working night, weekend, and holiday hours. 

Location:   Eagle Hammock RV Park aboard Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, GA

Relocation Expenses:  Not Authorized

Area of Consideration:   All Sources – Applicant does not have to have current SUBASE access.  If selected for position, access will be granted upon a favorable background check.

Duties:  Incumbent is assigned to one or more specialized recreational activities such as the following: Marina/Fishing Piers, Community Activities, ITT Office, Campsites/Cottages, Arts & Crafts, Fitness/Athletics, Golf Course, and Bowling Centers.  Performs and/or assists in the operation of the recreation activity. Based on established policies, incumbent carries out assigned phases of designated activity applying an understanding of the interest and needs of program participants. Typical assignments may include: establishing schedules of events; applying rules and regulations in supervising assigned participants in indoor and outdoor activities; setting up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events; scheduling and conducting tours and field trips. Demonstrates procedures common to the activities, and instructs in the use of related equipment. Conducts instructional classes in the recreational area. Helps to plan and coordinates details of recreational activities and maintains related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants.  May oversee sale of retail items associated with activities. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations.  Performs other related duties assigned.


  • Combination of experience related to customer service and/or recreation activity based on functions.

  • Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Must have strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research

    on recreation topics for dissemination to customers.

  • Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:  Work may require considerable physical exertion while instructing or guiding participants in a variety of activities. Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderate heavy items up to 40 pounds, occasionally required to lift heavier items.  Work may require lifting items such as papers, books, rental equipment, and athletic equipment.  Work may require working outside for special events or leading outdoor outings or group trips.  Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, without a fixed schedule.  Administrative work is performed in a normal office setting.
