Fitness Journey? I was an athlete in high school and a rugby player in college so fitness was always a priority to me. Once my years as an athlete concluded, I fell in love with long distance running and CrossFit. Both helped me stay active and functionally fit during and after my pregnancy. Since beginning long distance running and CrossFit, I have completed 3 marathons, 10+ half marathons, numerous 5k and 10k races and 4 CrossFit competitions. I’m a sucker for races and competitions because they give me goals to train for and I love the finisher medals and t-shirts.
How long have you been a Coach? I have been a fitness coach for nine years and have been a coach for MWR for over a year.
What made you become a Coach? I had excellent Certified Strength and Conditioning Coaches in high school who taught me about exercise programming and I wanted to help others develop their fitness and athletic abilities the way they helped me. I also have a passion for health promotion, and fitness plays a big role in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Training Philosophy? If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. I’m a firm believer that getting out of our comfort zone is key to building character. Overcoming adversity, whether in the gym or in life, teaches us how to adapt and grow both mentally and physically.
What do you like to do outside of work? Meeting up with my running group and going to the beach.
What is your favorite type of workout? CrossFit because it is fast paced and has a constant variation in movements and equipment.
