Can Authorized Patrons bring guests?

Authorized Patrons may bring guests that can gain base access. A minimal daily pool guest fee of $3 is charged per person. Children 6 years and younger are free.

Can I reserve a pavilion and grill for an event during Recreational Swim hours during the summer season?

Yes. Reservations for groups can be made at the pool office. Rental fees are based on size of function being held.

Can I reserve portions of the pool for specialized training, Physical Readiness Tests, and Command PT sessions?

Yes. Reservation requests can be made at the pool office or at the Fitness Complex Customer Service Counter. For best results in securing your request, we recommend submitting your reservation request no less than 2 weeks prior to the needed date.

Can we bring food into the pool complex?

Groups and individuals may bring food into the pool, however no alcohol or glass and breakable plastic items may be brought into the pool area. All food and beverages must be kept away from the edge of the pools.

Does the base pool offer Lifeguard Training courses and/or CPR and First Aid classes?

The Base Pool Aquatics staff usually conducts a week-long Lifeguard Training course during Camden County public school’s spring break.  Call the pool office for times and dates of the next Lifeguard Course at 912-573-3001.  CPR and First Aid classes are scheduled every 90 days or more frequently if needed.  Call the pool office for more information on CPR and First Aid classes.

Does the base pool offer swimming lessons?

The base pool offers group and private swimming lessons for children during the summer months. Active Duty swim lessons and swim instruction are available year round during Active Duty lap swim from 11 am - 12 noon. Please call the pool office at 912-573-3001 for more information on swim lessons.

Is the pool heated?

The pool is heated in the winter months. The average daily water temperature is 82 degrees F.

What features does the Base pool have?

The Kings Bay Base Pool Complex features a 25 yard X 25 meter lap pool, 2 water slides, a diving well with a 1 meter diving board, and a children’s wading pool with a Water Drop Umbrella. The facility offers plenty of lounge chairs and tables as well as two large shaded canopies with patio tables and chairs. The facility also includes two covered pavilions with picnic tables and grills.

What size is the lap swim pool?

The outdoor lap pool is 25 yards X 25 meters. The pool is currently set up with six 25 yard lanes for lap swimming.

When is the pool open?

Year Round Lap Swim Hours:

Monday - Friday, 5:30 am - 8:30 am & 11 am - 1 pm. The pool is reserved for Active Duty only lap swim between 11 am and 12 noon. The pool is closed for lap swim on Federal Holidays.

Summer Recreational Swim Hours:

Memorial Day Weekend – End of July, Tuesday - Sunday, Noon - 6 pm. Monday (Closed), August ONLY open weekends, Sat./Sun., Noon - 6 pm.

Open on the following holidays:

Memorial Day, 4th of July, & Labor Day: 12 noon - 6pm

Who is an Authorized Patron?

An authorized patron includes Active Duty personnel,  Dependents, Military Retirees, and DOD personnel with proper ID. There are no daily entry fees for Authorized Patrons.
