Housing for Unaccompanied Personnel
Unaccompanied personnel reporting to NSB Kings Bay have a number of excellent Housing choices. The Housing Service Center (HSC) stands ready to assist you in determining your eligibility and options and in locating acceptable housing. Depending on your assignment status (shore duty, sea duty, student, etc.) and pay grade, your options may include Unaccompanied Housing (UH), dormitories or housing in the local community.
Unaccompanied Housing is a short walk away from the Navy Exchange, commissary, McDonalds, Dominos Pizza, Subway, bowling alley and the Navy Federal Credit Union. The UH houses approximately 1,300 service members. Building 1070 is the central check-in area and provides permanent party billeting for eligible unaccompanied personnel. Linen is provided at check in. As an added convenience to residents, there are lounges equipped with televisions, and vending machines.
There are many advantages to living on base for unaccompanied military:

Upon assignment to UH, the Building Manager will schedule a time for your UH indoctrination and joint assignment inspection. All of our rooms are assigned in a clean, well-maintained state and are fully furnished. The purpose of the joint inspection is to document the status of the room and furnishings at the time of check in. During your stay, it is your responsibility to promptly report all maintenance problems and required repairs. When you check out, you will conduct a joint termination inspection with the Building Manager to document the status at check-out. Your Building Manager will explain the process during indoctrination.
We have a number of rules and regulations designed to keep the UH community a safe and comfortable place for all residents. You will be provided a copy of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay Instruction 11103.1R during indoctrination, which explains all of the rules and regulations for the operation of UH. We try to keep the rules as reasonable and unobtrusive as possible and expect everyone to abide by them.
Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay has a full complement of recreational, fitness, dining, religious, and educational and other amenities. Most are located within walking distance of UH.
